The Caribbean experience is not based on the endless beaches it has to offer. There are many alternatives and attractions for tourists who want to have more than constant sunshine. |
The Caribbean consists of many islands with unique characteristics. These islands all share a tropical climate and are surrounded by the Caribbean Sea: remarkable blue beaches and alluring green sceneries. The diversity from one island to another is immense, from the dry Bonaire to jungle-filled mountains of Trinidad; from rock formations in the Bahamas to cave systems in Puerto Rico.
Tourism in the Caribbean is not limited to just beaches. As most of the islands have several activities of historical value, there are many landmarks that tourists visit when traveling to the Caribbean, here I’ll be listing five featured places you should be visiting:
In the Old Havana, most of the buildings with great historical value are well preserved. These buildings still showcase Neo-Classicism, Modern, and Art Noveau styles.
Fortaleza Ozama is located in the Dominican Republic, National District. Built in 1502, this fortification served as a prison.
Trinidad, Cuba, is the center of one of the oldest and richest historical cities in Americas. The city’s foundation is dated to the 15th century, and it consists of many preserved buildings with historical value.
Arecibo Observatory in the municipality of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. In this place you can find the world’s largest single-aperture telescope, constructed in 1960 – 1963. Also, this observatory is the facility of the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center (NAIC), under the management of Cornell University.
The Catedral de Santa María la Menor, in the Dominican Republic, National District. This cathedral is the oldest in The Americas (since the 15th century). Built in Renaissance and Gothic styles, it also holds the title of the Primate of the Americas.
As you can see, there are many landmarks to choose when visiting the Caribbean, so it would be wise to plan your trip and choose the most appealing to you. With Cruise Planners – Jason Hantman, you’ll have it easy to plan your vacations to any of the great islands the Caribbean offers to you.
